The Knickerbocker is an historic seven-story office building featuring a brick and granite exterior conveniently located opposite the Clarence M. Mitchell Jr. Courthouse and Annex and within a few blocks of the Federal District Courthouse and Baltimore City municipal office buildings.. Many of the conveniences of downtown Baltimore are within walking distance. The building is accented with terra cotta trim, elaborate cornices with egg and dart molding, geometric details and Corinthian style capitals terminating the pilasters on either end of the building near the roofline. The structure was constructed in 1892 at the northwest corner of Guilford and Lexington Streets. The building was originally known as the Manufacturer’s Record Building and is one of the older distinctive structures within the Financial District which survived the Baltimore Fire of 1904.
